What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage is an ancient healing touch. It provides comfort through applying pressure to the muscles and other soft tissues with the intent in improving a person’s well-being or health. Benefits may include relaxation, increased energy and circulation, pain relief, sleep and a greater well-being.

 DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep Tissue massage draws many techniques from Swedish massage, but also integrates more pressure, deeper trigger point work, and more vigorous petrissage and compressions.

SWEDISH  MASSAGE

In Swedish Relaxation massage, the therapist uses a variety of strokes (called effleurage, petrissage, & tapotement) which relax and realign your muscles aided by soothing lotion. Myofascial restrictions and trigger points can be accessed with Swedish relaxation massage, but by using a lighter and more gradual approach than Deep Tissue massage.

Sports massage

In Sports Massage, each session is customized to meet the athlete's massage objectives. If in line with athlete's goals and treatment plan, sports massage tends to include more stretches, gentle joint mobilizations. PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation), and pin & stretch techniques. At times, sports massage will incorporate a faster, more vigorous pace and a shorter session length (so as not to fatigue) to prepare the athlete for an event later that day. Likewise, a longer, more relaxing, & thorough massage session can be used to help the athlete recover post event.

prenatal massage

In pregnancy massage, the therapist uses a variety of strokes (called effleurage, petrissage, & tapotement) which relax and realign your muscles aided by soothing lotion. Prenatal massage includes specially designed cushions and positions to suit the pregnant client. The therapist always keeps in mind safety, considering that pregnant women tend to have increased muscle flexibility and elasticity because of the hormonal changes during pregnancy.
